Our story

Our goal was to create a new web service that would make construction-related permit processes faster and easier. Together with The Finnish Ministry of the Environment, we created a service to meet the diverse needs of citizens, municipal authorities, architects and other construction business experts. As a result, the processing times are significantly shorter and applicant satisfaction has increased.

The project was launched as a part of Finland’s Ministry of Finance’s Action Programme on eServices and eDemocracy (SADe). The programme period was 2009–2015. SADe developed comprehensive services for citizens, companies, and authorities. Ministry of the Environment managed development of the services for the Building and housing sector. Solita was selected as the developer and operator of the permit service via a public tender in 2012, Permit Point (Lupapiste) was a joint effort of the Ministry of the Environment, Solita and 28 pilot municipalities. After SADe-program, Lupapiste service was run and further developed by Solita and customer municipalities.

Solita, founded in 1996, is an expert company producing digital solutions and online services for digital business operations and transactions as well as business intelligence. Solita’s main owner is the private equity investor Vaaka Partners. Solita’s turnover in 2016 was €58.5 million, and it employs almost 600 digital business professionals in five different locations in Finland, Sweden and Singapore.
